A Love Note (To Our Planet)
There are officially six days until Earth Day (April 22)! I’ve been trying — in my own little ways — to go green, so I’ve gathered a few tips that will ease your shopping bug and show a little love to Mother Nature.

Tote Trendy: If the 99 cent reusable shopping bags from Whole Foods aren’t trendy enough for you, check out Dogeard‘s Natural Tote Bags. Dogeared features a Green Patch on its Website chock full of other earth-friendly fare.
Soap Safely: One of the easiest ways to get on a going green kick is to start using eco-friendly dish soap. Mrs. Myer’s rocks because not only are the products aromatherapeutic but they’re also biodegradable and environmentally friendly. (Hint: that means it keeps our water run-off a bit cleaner) Just a tip: The lavender scented products will have you washing dishes all night.
Clothe Greenly: American Apparel has a Sustainable Edition line. We’re talking all your basic cotton necessities (White T-shirts, undies etc.) made from completely organic cotton. The benefits of organic cotton are endless. Safer for us, safer of our environment and safer for animals. Sounds pretty win-win to me.

April Showers: How To Buy A Raincoat

Alright fellas, it’s April. Other than the excitement over no school on Good Friday, this month brings rain. And if you look at the forecasts, it looks like there is going to be a lot of it. Follow these steps for raincoat success:
The collar should be popped. Don’t worry, you won’t look like a prepy idiot. That is what it’s for, to keep your neck dry.
A trench/raincoat should fit slimly and snug to your body. The bottom should be anywhere between two and six inches above the knee, according to GQ. If it fits correctly, no need to tie the belt around your waist — that is a little feminine anyways.
Khaki and black are both great options. If you are feeling a little more daring, try something bold, like red, green or electric blue.
While some are pretty pricy, you can hit up stores like Banana Republic or even Barneys co-op to find something rad and reasonable.

With spring finally here and summer just around the corner, what better way to mix up your winter hair rut than with a floral headband?
My latest obsession: Mischa Barton’s designs for Stacey Lapidus.
Mischa regularly sports a beachy, laid-back hairstyle with an array of headbands for day and night. This year she teamed up with one of her favorite accessory designers, Stacey Lapidus, to create a line that stays true to the Lapidus look but channels her personal LA girl style.
You can get a piece of the OC starlette’s look directly designed by MischMisch herself: Pearls, rhinestones, and beads braided into pastel silk and chiffon fabrics look just like a treasure pulled out of the sea. (You’ll definitely feel a little more laid-back and lighter spirited with one in your hair.)

To Do List: Easter Weekend!
I’m spending Easter weekend in (not-so-sunny) Los Angeles but if you’re in Dallas for the long weekend here’s a to-do list.
BRUNCH: What would Easter be without a great brunch…La Cubanita has $7 bottomless mimosas on Saturday and Sunday. Oh…and great breakfast tacos!
ROCK ‘N ROLL: Austin-based band Nelo is playing at the House of Blues tomorrow night. Rumor has it if they get a big turn out they’ll headline at HOB more often!
PARK & POOCH: Lee Park’s annual Easter in the Park festivities (hint: dog parade) are a great way to enjoy the spring weather and Dallas community.
PAMPER: Cocktails and manicures? Yes! Sip a cosmo and soak your toes at Nail Bar on McKinney…maybe pick up a cup of Yogilicious while you’re at it.

Live From Paris!
I’m here in Paris for the semester. Models at clubs, Karl Lagerfeld walking the streets, fashion shows down the street from your apartment…who wouldn’t want to be on their style game?
Parisian pre-schoolers are more fashionable than most of the people I know! Being in this city has inspired me. Spring has finally come and women are starting to break out the jumpers, funky sunglasses, and striped sailor T’s.
Style Tips For The Wanna-Be Parisian:
BLACK: French women tend to dress in all black. It makes an outfit look effortlessly timeless and chic.
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX: Parisians get creative with the silhouette and textures of their clothes. This causes the outfit to not look depressing and drab, but updated and modern.
MESS IT UP: Parisians like to look a little messy. They have the “I just threw this incredibly fashionable outfit on in two minutes” look. The hair will be uncombed, the scarf thrown on top, and the clothes just a little baggy.
ARABIAN NIGHTS: The trend that I have noticed of late are harem pants paired with chunky wooden heels and a blazer on top. This is the “classic” look of Spring 2009 in Paris. Isabel Marant, has shown this outfit on her runway in its various forms.
So when it comes to any season, the French can be seen looking très chic. New trends may come, but the French know how to adapt that look into their classic French look.

Spotted: ANTM’s London
If you’re keeping up with America’s Next Top Model this season then you definitely know London. The stunning Agness Deyn look-alike, who grew up in Arlington, has been spotted everywhere around Dallas since her recent departure from the show. I caught up with her at the SMU Retail Club’s Fashion Show at Barney’s New York in North Park Center. London stood out in the crowd of students with her unique grunge style and platinum edgy hair. After the show, London commented that the Retail Club’s runway event was professional and well styled.
