Fête Set: TOMS One Day Without Shoes
I kick-off my shoes at bars and dances when the pain of my 5 inch stilettos becomes unbearable, but today my barefootness will not be a failed attempt to be as tall as a supermodel… it will be for a cause I can be proud of. TOMS is asking people worldwide to go barefoot today, even if it’s for as little as an hour around your dorm, to experience life without owning something most SMU students could not even fathom – shoes.
Don’t be afraid of the germs while walking to class, SMU has a highly paid maintenance and campus grounds staff.
Fête Set: SMU Retail Club @ Downtown Neiman Marcus
If you have yet to join the most fashionably fun club on campus, now is your chance! Retail Club is hosting a meeting this Thursday, March 18th from 5pm -8pm at Downtown Neiman Marcus. Dallas-based Neiman Marcus is generously hosting the club once again for a don’t want to miss event. The store’s best will be chatting with retail clubbers about the business aspects of the fashion industry and treating us to a “Trades and Trend Presentation.”

SAVE THE DATE: Thursday, April 15th will be the annual SMU Retail Club Fashion Show at Barney’s NYC in NorthPark Center. The show is completely student produced from the styling to the coeds cruising the runway.

Fête Set: Julie Michel Designs Trunk Show
Introducing Julie Michel, a local artist who brings her paintings to life (literally) with her collection of dresses and skirts. SMU Style first caught up with Julie at The Dallas Flea in the fall. The artist turned designer has been painting abstract, modern art for years and just recently had the clever idea of transferring her bold and breathtaking paintings from canvas to cloth. The creations are truly one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art – so much so that she even signs each dress, as she would a painting. Try-on the artwork for yourself this Thursday from 5pm to 9pm at the Julie Michel Designs Trunk Show. 6292 Revere Place.
