Fashion Insider: Whitney Wolfe’s Help Us Get Cleaned Up Totes

Posted in Fashion Insider, Shop Savvy by smustyle on July 12, 2010

SMU senior Whitney Wolfe has created The Help Us Get Cleaned Up project to raise money supporting the wildlife affected by the Gulf Coast oil spill. Her contribution takes shape as an adorable design project — three 100 percent organic bamboo totes. Each eco-friendly bag is stylish, durable, and can be used as a grocery bag, carryall for school, or even a purse. The Help Us Get Cleaned Up bags come in pink, blue and natural, and each bears the symbol of the brown pelican, which is the most vulnerable species to become endangered due to the Gulf oil spill. By purchasing one of these totes, not only will you look chic, but you will also be contributing to the Ocean Futures Society to help in their quest to clean up the damage done in the Gulf.

Shop Savvy: Stanley Korshak SALE

Posted in Shop Savvy by smustyle on July 6, 2010

What’s hotter than the Dallas heat? Stanley Korshak’s summer sale prices! Checkout my personal favs from the Korshak sale going on now.

I have been lusting for Lanvin flats all summer in New York City and finally here are some pairs that I might actually be able to afford. Are these Lanvin flats cheaper than Tory Burch’s iconic/ over-worn Revas? That’s unbe”reva”ble!
Lanvin Sable Flat Was: $550 NOW: $192
… or Think Pink:

These sassy satin flats with straw siding would be just luscious with a white sundress or even paired with blue jean shorts and a breezy top. Can you believe they are just $166, Lanvin prices don’t go that low and if they do they don’t last.
Lanvin Lime Green Flat

Christian Louboutins have to be the most uncomfortable shoe known to man, but boy are they hot! Despite the blisters and the annual shoe-repair shop red recovery visit my cravings for Christian never seem to be satisfied. Korshak has the strappy “Staratata” marked down from a pricey $995 to a still not cheap $497. But, if you have the means to steal these baby’s do! — They’ll make your bland outfits bomb all summer long!

Shop Savvy: Post-Holiday Wish List

Posted in Shop Savvy by smustyle on January 3, 2010

What I love that didn’t come under the tree. I’m not bitter at all, because now many of the items are on sale and being marked down even more daily. The early bird doesn’t always get the worm, those who can stand to wait until after Christmas can delight in the deals.
This is just my personal little wish list for the season, and as you can see it is mainly accessories. Why? Because I am trying to save money by updating my wardrobe with accessories instead of clothing. Sometimes you can’t buy it all and you have to prioritize…
1. Chanel $298

3. Amazon Kindle $259

Shop Savvy: Holiday Happenings…on a budget

Posted in Shop Savvy by smustyle on December 18, 2009

Hop on the holiday party circuit looking your best with festive and affordable frocks and accessories. I’m all about saving money this year, but looking fab is never not an option.

1.) Forever 21 $24.80 – With Forever 21 you have to really be an educated shopper in order to sort through the cheap and find the chic. This dress is silk, and coming from a lower end retailer I would typically say steer clear, but the tailored quality makes the sheath look more Alice & Olivia than Forever. So don’t stop at this red light – GO!

2.) Forever 21 $6.80 – A statement sparkling jewelry piece like this is the ultimate wardrobe must have this holiday season. If you’re on a budget this Forever bold bauble is a clever choice!

3.) See By Chloe black tights $55- Tights are mandatory with this outfit to set off the red satin and silver pumps – without some opaque black, I’m afraid you’ll look terribly trashy. Look, you can get tights anywhere at any price point – CVS and Walgreens even! So cover those legs and fool the fashionistas about the whereabout of your fashionable finds.

4.) Nine West $35- These mary-jane silver pumps might not be to everyones liking, but they sure do add that extra bit of holiday glitz and glam to your step. Make the pair pop with dark tights, with this ensemble black is best, and mini or fun frock like this. Not to mention they are on SALE, so even if you do only whip this out this time of the year or even just in the last remanding days of 2009 – you could possibly reason the purchase.
